Exceptional staff helped with every aspect of finding and reserving interesting places to eat, tickets, taxis, travel arrangements. Room was a perfect balance of great contemporary design informed by japanese tradition and western expectations of ease and comfort. Easy walking distance to Karasuma subway line and Kyoto Station. Seven-Eleven with atm in English right around the corner (not an easy thing to find). Cedar soaking tub - wanted to bring it home.

would stay there again
Stayed for 3 nights in a twin room with tatami area. Room had air conditioning, tv, and a private bathroom with great toiletries. The staff was super helpful with dinner reservations and local tips. The spa was amazing. We enjoyed a full body massage. Location was perfect, just a short walk to the subway.

The room size, after so many tiny rooms in Japan, was awesome. They were also beautiful and the bathroom was to die for, complete with every item one could need if forgotten. My husband and I also wished we could take the beds home with us-they were that comfortable. I also appreciated having Wifi in the rooms. Staff were amazingly helpful, including helping me find a place to replace my broken suitcase.
One English language TV channel might have been nice, as would an option for breakfast in the room (since the coffee was so amazing). Also, it is maybe a 10-minute walk from the main shopping/eating area, but we more than made up for that by finding the AWESOME tapas restaurant literally 1/2 block away.

For the money the room and hotel itself was very luxurious. The room was spectacular. More space than my last apartment. Beautiful lighting and very comfortable. Great bathroom (shower and bathtub separate). Huge bed (2 x 140cm beds side by side!) and good quality mattress (not too hard and not too soft). The hotel staff were really pleasant, spoke better English than most other Japanese people, and they helped us locate stores, restaurants and tourist attractions to see.
Not enough hooks or places to hang wet bath towels or clothes in room. Full payment is made upfront upon arrival. Breakfast menu a bit limited.

The elegant Japanese decor and soothing ambiance. Each room features a charming tatami area, providing both beauty and comfort. Accessibility was great, allowing easy navigation throughout the hotel.
More grab bars in the bathroom would be helpful.
